About the ASPCA Recovery & Rehabilitation Center
In Pawling, New York, we're building the ASPCA Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (R&R Center), a brand-new facility that will provide high-quality integrated care to shelter, rehabilitate and rehome canine victims of cruelty and neglect. The R&R Center, which is slated to open in 2025, will work in partnership with the ASPCA's existing animal recovery facilities in New York City, allowing us to maximize our capacity to care for dogs rescued through our longstanding partnership with the New York City Police Department.
Beyond our direct work with animals, our teams are leading research to broaden our impact and advance the animal welfare field. Many animals rescued through the ASPCA-NYPD partnership have behavioral and medical challenges as a result of the abuse and neglect they've suffered, which can compromise their quality of life and prevent adoption. To help these victims of cruelty heal at the R&R Center, we will develop new interventions to treat behavior problems and share what we learn with other animal welfare organizations across the country.
