Staff testimonials

Scott Hegmann, Licensed Veterinary Technician- ASPCA Animal Hospital

I love everything about working at the ASPCA Animal Hospital.
I've been with the ASPCA for almost seventeen years! I love making a difference in the lives of animals we work with every day and being a part of their transformations so they can go home healthy and happy with their families. The hospital provides a range of services — dental, radiology, surgery — and I get to work with animals that need the most care.

Brittany Umana, Manager, Licensed Veterinary Technician- Adoption Center

I think that being a vet tech here is a whole new aspect of medicine.
You learn about different diseases that you don't typically get to see in a GP or specialty practice. You also discover best practices and ways to address issues of cruelty and abuse. We also learn different ways to handle an animal fear-free, which I never did outside of this job.

Jessica Conn, Medical Staff Manager- Community Medicine

Your career goals are taken seriously and fostered.
From our amazing hospital to community medicine and adoptions, we have so many opportunities to learn, grow and give care. You are supported at every turn, whether you want to shadow another department, deploy to help animals in need in other states after natural disasters or move into a management role.

Most LVTs in other practices primarily work in one area such as surgery or ICU. At the ASPCA, LVTs have an opportunity to learn all areas of the hospital. This makes you a stronger tech.

— Community Medicine Team Member

The work culture is very respectful and work/life balance is encouraged. It's the first hospital that allows my lunch break to happen.

— Animal Recovery Center Team Member

It is so fulfilling to make such a big impact on NYC's most vulnerable animal population. I truly feel that I can make a difference in animals' lives here. I have also found that our teamwork really shines. We depend on each other and work hard toward the same goal. My coworkers are some of the best humans that I know!
